Disclaimer: I DO NOT MAKE A PROFIT FROM THIS COMIC. This has NOTHING to do with the recent Steamboat W*llie public domain thing; I've been drawing and writing this fan comic since January 2023, a year before W*llie entered public domain, and this comic is firmly inspired by post-success Mickey of the 40s and 50s aka "suburban bachelor Mickey". While not all who are drawing steamboat W*llie comics or making content are doing so out of malicious glee to "stick it" to a certain company, I wanted to make it clear that "Cheer Up, Michael" is my work as a fan who owes much of their passion for art to Disney-- This is NOT a "lemme see how sad and sick and depraved I can make things for an edgy middle finger" work. Not going into meme territory. I love the studio and the character and this is intended as a sincere exploration of my thoughts and my musings on the character and his potential.Â
